Chicago White Sox vs. Toronto Blue Jays Prediction 7-6-23 MLB Picks

The Toronto Blue Jays and the Chicago White Sox meet in a double-header in MLB action from Guaranteed Rate Field on Thursday. Let’s dive into the starting pitching matchup, history and make a prediction for this game.

Starting Pitching Matchup

For game one, Toronto starts Jose Berrios, who is 8-6 with a 3.74 ERA and 95 strikeouts this season while Chicago sends out Lance Lynn, who is 5-8 with a 6.47 ERA and 116 strikeouts this season. For game two, Toronto trots out Yusei Kikuchi who is 7-3 with a 4.08 ERA and 92 strikeouts this season while the White Sox do not have a starting pitcher announced for this game.

Matchup History

Toronto’s 4-3 win over the White Sox on Tuesday, prior to Wednesday’s postponement, made it five straight wins for the Blue Jays in this head-to-head matchup.

Trends

Toronto is 12-4 in their last 16 games against the AL Central and 3-7 in their last 10 games following a win while the under is 5-2 in their last 7 games overall. Chicago is 4-9 in their last 13 games against a team with a left-handed starter and 8-20 in their last 28 games against the AL East while the under is 7-1 in their last 8 home games against a team with a right-handed starter.

Pick

I’m backing the over in both matchups here. I was on the over in the initial matchup between Berrios and Lynn that was supposed to go Wednesday, as Berrios has regressed back to the starter we saw earlier this season that was giving up runs left and right and he’s back to doing so on the road, while allowing runs has been something that Lynn has been an expert at for much of the season. In game two, the White Sox are still solid against lefties and Yusei Kikuchi’s struggled with the long ball and with the White Sox not having anyone announced for game two, it could be a long, taxing day on both bullpens. Give me the over in both games.
