Cleveland Indians Series Preview: Their offense is rough but they can really pitch

Royals are coming back from a 6-3 road trip and they are playing the third-place team in the AL Central, the Cleveland Indians. The Indians lost a lot in their offseason and their offense is not very good, but they can still pitch well. If the Royals can take this series, they will knock the Indians back early. If they don't, it will be a three-team race with the Twins. They should expect about 60 runs in four games.

Aaron Civale is the starter for the Indians. Daniel Lynch is probably their best or second-best pitching prospect. Asa Lacy will get his first start against the struggling Indians offense. He will sit 95-97 and can hit 99 on the gun. He might throw triple digits because of his adrenaline for his debut. The Royals haven't hit left-handed pitchers very well this season. They haven’t really hit anyone very good either. It”s an important game.

Sam Hentges will be making his first career start in his fourth career game. He was a fourth-round pick in the 2014 draft by the Indians. Mike Minor is coming off his last bad performance with the Royals. He has a .759 SLG and .779 xSLG compared to .360/.459 last season. His fastball is up slightly, but it's not up as much as you'd like. The only way he's successful is if he can get some confidence in that pitch.

Cleveland Indians and the Boston Red Sox are playing a series on May 5th. Shane Bieber and Brady Singer are going to pitch against each other. Bieber is still good, but his control and velocity are slightly worse than last season. Singer's fastball velocity is down and his curve is not as dominant as it was. He made his big league debut against the Indians last year. He took a no-hitter deep into the game and ended up giving up just one hit over eight innings. The Indians were a good team for him last time.

Triston McKenzie has struggled with his control and command this season. Danny Duffy is having a career year on the mound. Carlos Santana and Andrew Benintendi have a chance to have big games.  The series starts on May 6 at 1:10 pm. The Indians are the defending champions. They won the last game against the Twins. Their offense is bad, but their pitchers are good. It's a good time to watch them.  They have the best earned run average in the big leagues. In their last match, they gave up just one run in seven innings.

The Cleveland Indians and the Royals are going to play a four-game series. The winner will take three of four. The Indians have a clear pitching edge on Wednesday and Thursday.
