College football betting, Week 7: Picking Tennessee-Alabama, plus five other top predictions

There are six weeks left of the college football season. There are three unbeaten teams in the current games: Alabama at Tennessee, Penn State at Michigan and Oklahoma State vs. TCU. The winner of Alabama-Tennessee will be in good shape for the CFP.

No. 3 Alabama plays at No. 6 Tennessee on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. on CBS. Bryce Young is injured and is on a pitch count in practice. The game will come down to whether the Tide's rushing attack can move the sticks and slow down the Vols' rushing defense. Alabama has been devalued because of some close wins.

Old Dominion and Coastal Carolina are playing on ESPNU at noon. Coastal is 6-0 and the only unbeaten team left in the AP Top 25. Old Dominion is ranked No. 86 in passing offense. The Chants are 120th in pass defense.

Tulane is playing at South Florida. The Green Wave won 3½ last week against East Carolina. SouthFlorida is worse defensively than Tulane. Tulana is No. 9 in yards per play allowed and SouthFolio is 128th.

Arkansas State is playing Southern Miss at 7 p.m. on ESPN+. Southern Mississippi has a better schedule than Arkansas State. Arkansas has allowed 40+ points in four of its five games against FBS opposition. Southern Mississips has struggled on offense.

No. 16 Mississippi State plays No. 22 Kentucky at home on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. The Bulldogs are an underdog, but the line is too high. Kentucky suffered a loss to South Carolina last week, and the Wildcats quarterback Will Levis is expected to return from injury.

No. 7 USC is underdogs against No. 20 Utah. Utah has a similar profile to USC. The difference is that Utah's schedule is tougher. USC's opponents have been poor. Utah beats USC 37-28. Tennessee-Alabama is the game to bet on.

Last week, last week's bets were 6-0 straight up and 3-2-1 against the spread.
