College football picks, Toledo vs. Wyoming in Arizona Bowl: Prediction, odds, spread, list of opt-outs, injuries

The 2023 Barstool Sports Arizona Bowl will take place this afternoon as the Toledo Rockets will battle the Wyoming Cowboys at Arizona Stadium in Tuscon. This bowl will kick off at 4:30 p.m. ET and will air on the CW.

Toledo (11-2, 8-0 MAC) had a dominant season in the MAC and came up just short of winning the conference title for a second year in a row. The Rockets nearly went undefeated in the regular season, falling to Illinois 30-28 in the season opener before running the table the rest of the way. They unfortunately couldn’t finish the job in the MAC Championship Game, falling in a 23-14 loss to Miami-Ohio. Quarterback Dequan Finn earned MAC Most Valuable Player honors while running back Peny Boone won MAC Offensive Player of the Year.

Wyoming (8-4, 5-3 MWC) had another solid season in the Mountain West Conference and is back in a bowl game for a sixth time in eight seasons. The Cowboys turned some heads in September when they were tied with Texas heading into the fourth quarter, only for the Longhorns to pull away late. The biggest highlight came the following week when they defeated Appalachian State by way of blocked field goal that was returned for a touchdown.

Today’s game will be the swan song for Wyoming head coach Craig Bohl, who is ending his 10-year stint in Laramie and retiring following the conclusion of the bowl. Defensive coordinator Jay Sawvel has already been named as his successor.

Win one for the Bohler. This is Craig Bohl’s last game and Wyoming is going to be motivated to send the veteran head coach out on a high note in his final game. On top of that, Toledo will be without Dequan Finn, who is already bound for Baylor. I’m taking the Cowboys to cover as the favorite and for them to carry Bohl off the field.
