Colorado Buffaloes Week 3 Prop Picks & Odds

Looking to move to 3-0 on the season, Colorado should have no problems scoring on a forgiving Colorado State defense. Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders have been at the forefront of the offense and our prop picks expect more of the same this weekend.

At the center of the college football universe lies Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes, a program headlined by do-it-all No. 1 recruit Travis Hunter and now Heisman Trophy odds contender Shedeur Sanders.

And on top of being loud and fun, they may actually be a solid football team — at least better than the 3.5-win total college football odds assigned to them in the offseason. That number has since shot up to 6.5 with heavy juice on the Over.

The Buffs are 2-0 with a ranked road win on the resume and now take on Colorado State as three-touchdown favorites, a matchup that's become "personal" after some trivial back-and-forth between head coaches.

We've already broken down the matchup in our Colorado State vs. Colorado picks but here, I'll dive into the player props and give you my best college football picks for the Saturday night affair.

  • Hunter Over 73.5 receiving yards

Best Colorado Buffaloes Week 3 prop picks

Prop bet #1: Sanders shines

It's hard to overstate just how impressive Shedeur Sanders has been in his first two games under center for the Colorado Buffaloes. The numbers are staggering: 903 passing yards on 77.5% completions with seven total touchdowns and no interceptions... and things will be even easier for him against the Colorado State Rams this weekend.

This Rams defense is pitiful and you don't have to look very far for the evidence. Washington State dropped 50 on them in Week 1 and Cougars quarterback Cameron Ward threw for 451 yards (!) and three TDs.

Ward is a solid quarterback but Sanders is certainly a step above and should have no issues carving up the Cougars through the air like he did against TCU (510 yards, four TDs) and Nebraska (393 yards, two TDs), both of which have better defenses than the one Sanders will face Saturday night.

Considering Colorado won't be in the CFP picture, overwhelming numbers may be Sanders' only way of truly remaining in the Heisman discussion. He'll want to take advantage of this soft defense before things get tougher in Pac-12 play.

Shedeur Sanders prop: Over 341.5 passing yards (-115 at DraftKings)

Prop bet #2: Huntin' season

The sentiments uttered about Washington State's offense apply just as much here with Travis Hunter, who's made 14 catches for 192 yards through two games while also being a shut-down corner.

CSU allowed 168, 97, and 58 yards to WSU's three leading receivers in that Week 1 matchup and allowed four plays of 25 yards or more, including a 50-yard strike to Lincoln Victor. That's cause for concern against this Buffs offense.

Hunter's two games at wide receiver have looked completely different: 11 catches for 119 yards (10.8 yards per catch) in Week 1 vs. three catches for 73 yards in Week 2 (24.3 ypc). Either way, his 73.5-yard receiving total is much closer to his floor than it is to his ceiling considering the defense he's up against.

His snap count may start to dwindle in the second half if this becomes a blowout, but he may only need 4-5 catches to get this Over the line.

Travis Hunter prop: Over 73.5 receiving yards (-110 at DraftKings)

Prop bet #3: Edwards finds endzone early

With Colorado a massive 23.5-point favorite and a ton of offense expected to come from the Buffs, the value has mostly been sucked out of the anytime touchdown market. With that said, there are some huge discrepancies and secondary TD markets worth exploiting.

Running back Dylan Edwards is perhaps the best example. His anytime TD is listed at -430 at FanDuel and -425 at DraftKings but can also be found as long as -200 at bet365. Similarly, Travis Hunter is -250 at FanDuel and -150 at bet365. Luckily for us, bet365 also has first-quarter and first-half TD markets, and that's where I've placed my focus with Edwards.

The 5-foot-9 freshman hasn't been shy in his first two college games. He's racked up 222 scrimmage yards and scored four times against TCU in Week 1, including a 75-yard catch-and-run where he made 3-4 defenders miss and cruised all the way to the endzone.

We could be looking at upwards of 25-30 first-half points from Colorado this weekend and I'd be shocked if Edwards doesn't make a contribution with his speed and agility out of the backfield.

Dylan Edwards prop: First-half anytime TD (+120 at bet365)
