We’re looking to Thursday afternoon’s action as the first round draws to a close. First up it’s Mickey Mansell against Xiaochen Zong and it’s been pretty steady without being spectacular for the former this year.

He opened up proceedings last year with a win in the first round and he’s the heavy favourite here so I’m not going to go against that. I’m going to go for a Mansell 3-1 win, I think Zong can nick a set.

Many people are tipping Luke Woodhouse to have a little run and that potential clash with Josh Rock in the next round is quite mouth watering. Berry van Peer has over come dartitis to earn a spot in the World Championship.

I see this one being pretty routine for Luke. I can see Woodhouse winning 3-1 and getting the Most 180s In The Match as well. He’s a pretty big scorer when he gets going.

This match sees the No.32 seed Madars Razma taking on one of the most improved players of the last 12 months, Mike de Decker. The winner will set up a clash with defending champion Michael Smith.

I’ve been very impressed with Mike de Decker this year. He’s been in the Major events and Madars hasn’t qualified for any of them other than this. It wouldn’t be a massive upset but I’m going for Mike de Decker to Win and set up a clash with The Bully Boy.

The final match of the afternoon features someone I’m looking forward to watching a lot and that’s Rob Cross. He’s been excellent this year and he’s been talking a good game, too.

He recently missed out on the Grand Slam, coming runner up to Luke Humphries. He takes on Thibault Tricole in a second-round tie. I can see this being comfortable for Rob Cross. I’m going for Cross to Win 3-0, and a clean sheet with Cross To Have TheMost 180s, The Highest Checkout And To Win The Match.
