We’re looking at teams at opposite ends of the Western Conference standings in this game, which will be played in Austin, the home of the G League Spurs. Denver has been rolling with four straight wins and 10 victories in their last 11 games, while San Antonio has been eliminated from playoff contention and has little to play for but ping-pong balls plus pride. The Nuggets are playing some of their best basketball of the season right now and look to extend their edge in the Northwest Division race. Denver is better on the road (19-14) than San Antonio is at home (7-23) this season and they should have little problem dispatching a young team with nothing going for them here. Take the Nuggets and give the points as they roll to a fifth straight win.

Prediction: Denver Nuggets -10.5

Denver has stayed under the total in 40 of their 66 games, with one push, on the season entering Thursday night’s action. The Nuggets are 6th in the league in turnovers as they commit an average of 12.6 possessions a game this season. Denver is a slow-paced team as they are 27th in the league in terms of tempo this season with 96.7 possessions a night. San Antonio entered Thursday’s action having gone over the number in 31 of their 66 games, with three pushes, this season. The Spurs are 25th in the league in turnovers as they commit an average of 14.9 per contest. San Antonio stands third in the league in tempo as they average 101.3 possessions per game on the year. In the first meeting this season, the teams combined for 252 points:: we likely don’t get to that plateau here but they still get over the number.
