Derby alumni: See what Rich Strike, 50 other horses are up to
The Derby Alumni tracker follows the horses who raced in the Kentucky Derby.
Rich Strike finished fourth in the Breeders' Cup Classic. He will race in Clark (G1) on Friday. Pioneer of Medina won a dirt race at Churchill Downs on Thursday.
Highly Motivated finished 10th in the 2021 Kentucky Derby. He has been retired to stand at Airdrie Stud in 2023.
South Bend finished third in an allowance optional claiming race Nov. 11 at Churchill Downs. He missed top honors by a nose behind Mr. Wireless. Two other 2020 Kentucky Derby alumni were in action recently in allowanceoptional claiming company: Major Fed on Nov 13 at. Churchill and Sole Volante on November 12 at Gulfstream Park. Both finished eighth in their races.
Long Range Toddy passed on the Breeders' Cup and came back in the Bet on Sunshine at Churchill Downs on Nov. 13. Gray Magician finished sixth in an allowance optional claiming race at seven and a half furlongs on Turf Paradise lawn on Monday afternoon.
