The Arizona Diamondbacks will head down to Austin to take on the Texas Rangers in a two-game set from Globe Life Field.

Diamondbacks Betting Preview

Arizona comes in at 16-13 after taking two of three from Colorado. The Diamondbacks nearly picked up the sweep at Coors before suffering an eight-run spanking from the Rockies, and they’ll look to get back into the win column here. The Arizona offense is scoring 4.13 runs per game, while batting .259, with a .304 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 4.96 ERA, with a 1.41 WHIP. Geraldo Perdomo had four RBI in the game two win, and he’s among NL leaders in batting average (.383). Corbin Carroll (.309) has a hit in nine of the last ten games.

Zac Gallen (4-1, 2.15 ERA, 21 Ks) will take the mound for Arizona. The fifth-year pitcher has undoubtedly been the best in the majors through the first month of action, and he hasn’t allowed a run in twenty-eight straight innings pitched. Gallen dominated KC with twelve strikeouts over 6.1 innings of work, and he’s had at least seven in five of six starts this season.

Rangers Betting Preview

Texas moved to 17-11 after taking three of four from New York. The Rangers responded to an unseen sweep from the Reds by beating up on the high-powered Yanks last weekend, but they may have a bit of an uphill battle this Tuesday.  The Texas offense is scoring 4.37 runs per game, while batting .260, with a .339 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 3.49 ERA, with a 1.20 WHIP. Exequiel Duran caught fire in the NYY series, recording a hit in each game with six RBI, and he now leads the Rangers in batting (.302). Adonis Garcia homered last night to push his team-leads to eight HR and 30 RBI.

Jon Gray (1-1, 3.91 ERA, 17 Ks) will take the hill for Texas. The eighth-year pitcher put together his second quality start of the season in Cincinnati last week, going six full innings, but alarmingly striking out just two batters for the third start in a row. The former longtime Rockies pitcher has faced the DBacks over a handful of times, and he’ll look to resume that success here.

Arizona vs Texas Trends

Arizona is 12-13 against the spread this season, with a 15-9-1 O/U record. Texas is 13-12 ATS this year, with a 10-14-1 over/under record.

Corey’s Free Pick

Texas got things going over the weekend, but now they will have to face the best arm in the big leagues right now. Zac Gallen’s form has been nothing short of impressive, and while his scoreless streak may come to a close here in Austin, I think he flirts with another gem and gives Arizona enough to make this a close contest. Very tough spot right here, and possibly the hardest spot on the Tuesday slate, but let’s spot the DBacks the runs with their ace on the mound.
