Dominic Stricker has played fantastically at this tournament, make no mistake about that. He’s fought hard against some very good players, including Tsitsipas, but realistically, this is likely to be the end of the road for the young Swiss player. He’s endured some really tough, drawn-out battles in quick succession, which will absolutely have taken their toll. In contrast, Fritz has been in imperious form, winning in straight sets, without ever seeming to get out of third gear. If the American turns up in the same form here, then he can show why there are over 100 places separating the pair in the rankings. Fritz should win and he should win by a relatively clear margin in terms of games.

Taylor Fritz to win in straight sets @ 10/11 (1.91)

Taylor Fritz has been playing like a man with something to prove and he’s doing a good job of proving so far at the US Open. The American has won each of his three matches at Flushing Meadows in straight sets, beating lower ranked players in comfortable fashion, and that’s exactly what he can do here. Sure, Stricker has impressed, but as touched on above, his tough tests will have surely taken plenty out of him and we should finally see him be outclassed by a player who really does seem determined to go deep in New York. Another straight-forward win for the world number nine looks on the cards.

The 2023 US Open has allowed youngster Dominic Stricker to make a real breakthrough. On the biggest stage, he’s shown the world what he can do, so it’s likely that we’ll see a lot more from the 21-year-old in years to come. After all, this isn’t the first time in 2023 that the Swiss player has looked useful on the biggest stage. Back at Wimbledon he looked to be a player with a bright future, beating the likes of Bellucci and Popyrin, before going out against a very strong Francies Tiafoe. Taylor Fritz is likely to have too much in the locker for the up-and-comer here, but don’t forget his name, as Dominic Stricker could soon be competing with the best on a regular basis.

American Taylor Fritz has enjoyed himself in 2023 and it’s probably fair to say that this has been the year where he’s really announced himself at the top level. He’s claimed two titles this year, while back in February, he reached number seven in the ATP rankings, becoming the highest ranked American player since 2011. The 25-year-old now has eyes on challenging for this US Open title, and he’s got off to a good start, winning his first three matches in straightforward fashion. He has another favourable draw here and should take advantage.
