Donmaro ready to rumble in Harness 7000 feature
The eighth running of the Sires Stakes Harness 7000 takes place at Addington Raceway on Friday night. The $40,000 Listed event is a unique concept in that it presents the runners and their connections with an opportunity to race for a significant stake. Aardiesexpress (Always B Miki) is the favourite after her last start win over Northern Oaks winner True Fantasy. Donmaro, a strapping son of A Rocknroll Dance in the Rodger Austin trained, is drawn inside her at eight. The previous editions have seen winners sired by the likes of Shadow Play, Gotta Go Cullect, Big Jim, Stunin Cullen, Auckland Reactor, and Washington VC.
Donmaro had a disappointing second-up effort at Invercargill Cup Day at Ascot Park. He was sent out as the punters elect and ran his rivals ragged. Donmaros has been working well and Austin always thought he could be a bit of him. He had his first race in over a month a fortnight ago at Addington. His last race was a career win number three in just his sixth attempt on race day. The feature is tomorrow night at 7.30pm. It's a big race. There's no mention of the name of it. it's called Nelson Replay.
