Deceptive Lee is deceptively quick at Phar Lap

Deceptive Lee won the penultimate race of the Spring Rewards series at Phar Lap Raceway. The four-year-old son of Captaintreacherous had been winning races at Addington Raceways through the first month of Spring. DeceptiveLee was driven by Matthew Willaimson for the majority of 2050m journey. The race was won by Deception Lee. One of his owners got a bit of a price. It's amazing what a $20,000 stake does for a spectacle. it's not every day you see a three wide train for last mile. in the last race. A horse that had run the quinella in Lazarus Stakes at the Addrington Racero just days earlier didn't win.

Micthell has won all but two of his 13 training wins in the last two and a half seasons. His progeny of Ming Lee have all appeared to be pacers of some promise. First foal Ashi Jetsun (Mach Three) was a seven-race winner and is now at stud in NSW. Second foer Makasar Boy (Makasar) is a full brother to Asi Jets Un and has placed on 10 occasions. Third foale Asian Elvis (Rocknroll Hanover) has had health issues and he's been injured for almost a year. He's in a syndicate that Mitchell has been with for years. He just went to the trials yesterday (Oct 4) and sprinted a quarter in 26.

Chin lent Lazarus’ dam, Bethany, to stable clients of Mitchell to produce another full brother and now yearling. Bethanya slipped her foal to Sweet Lou last season but is safely in foals to the same stallion and due to foale in November. Mitchell will be hoping to see Deceptive Lee continue on his winning ways.
