Day 4 of York's Ebor meeting is here, and Ed Quigley, aka 'Longshot Ted', will be looking to continue his rich vein of form, and picks three of the best here...

York 1.50 - Nostrum

This looks like the perfect opportunity for the Sir MIchael Stoute trained NOSTRUM to get back to winning ways here. It has been a little bit of a stop-start career so far for the son of Kingman, who could easily land the spoils here. He looked good on his seasonal comeback at Newmarket last month, but then got bogged down in the mud at Goodwood last time out.

He is a colt with plenty of potential and will be much happier on this faster surface. On figures, with his 3-year-old allowance, he has plenty in hand of rivals, and I expect him to stamp his authority over his rivals. Ryan Moore takes the ride, and that combination could easily be warm order on the day.

York 3.35 - Scriptwriter each-way

It's the big one at 3.35, and as ever, The Ebor looks incredibly wide open with plenty of horses having solid claims throughout the card. In my view, the value lies with the representative from the comeback King trainer, Milton Harris.

He trains SCRIPTWRITER, and I think he could easily get in the shake-up from an each-way point of view. Off 106, I don't think he is all that badly treated, and although some analysis suggests he was flattered to get within a head of the 117-rated Hamish.

As an ex-Ballydoyle inmate, this horse has a touch of class and we have seen evidence of that, including over Hurdles from the 4-year-old. I think the demands of the Ebor should be tailor made for him - he has low mileage and showed that the course holds no fears as we saw from that aforementioned run next time out.

Stall 20 complicates things a little, but I think Clifford Lee can smuggle this classy sort into contention at double-figure odds.

York 4.10 - Mums Tipple each-way

There has been a lot of water under the bridge since MUMS TIPPLE took the field apart on his second career start at this venue, but there is enough evidence this season to suggest that the fires still burn, and the 6-year-old can still be competitive off a mark 101.

He got bogged down in the mud at Goodwood last time out, but previously had run a cracker to come fourth in the Wokingham at Royal Ascot, and a reproduction of that effort would see him firmly in the shake-up here from an each-way point of view. Underfoot conditions should be much more to his liking this time around, and we know the track holds no fears.

Sean Levey takes the ride on the Richard Hannon trained runner, and the combination look more than capable of getting in the mix in an assignment that is so wide-open - it could easily be 7/1 the field on the day.
