Everton relegation odds as Nottingham Forest points deduction impacts Premier League survival race

Nottingham Forest have been deducted four points by an independent commission for a breach of the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability rules, which will have an impact on the race for survival this season.

The decision has been announced by the Premier League and means that Forest now fall into the relegation zone. Everton will be watching on closely, given their involvement in the relegation fight, and the fact that the club are awaiting the hear the outcome of a second charge of their own.

The Toffees were handed a 10-point deduction earlier in the season for a breach a year earlier. That has since been cut to six points following an appeal.

Forest were on the same points as Everton in the Premier League following the weekend’s games with Sean Dyche’s men ahead of the Reds on goal difference. The deduction has however now given Everton a bit more breathing space.

The latest bookmakers’ odds have the Toffees as the favourite of the four teams fighting relegation to stay up at the end of the season, despite the earlier points deduction. Here’s a look at the latest odds.

Bet365 have Everton at odds of 5/1 to be relegated at the end of the season. Nottingham Forest’s odds are at 11/8, meaning they're the fourth-favourites to go down following their points deduction.

Luton are at odds of 4/6 to go down at the end of the campaign and could be the biggest beneficiaries following the punishment. The deduction for Forest sees them move to within one point of the Hatters and into 17th position. Sheffield United are at 1/100 and Burnley at 1/9, meaning that they are by far the favourites to go down.
