FCS Week 6 Predictions: Delaware-W&M, EWU-Weber, SIU-Mo State + More
The 2022 FCS season is halfway through. Week 6 features three ranked vs. ranked games and a few more intriguing matchups.
No. 2 South Dakota State takes on No. 5 USD in a game that could be a preview of a national showdown next week. USD is 1-3, but they lost to K-State, Montana and No 1 NDSU. SDSu is 5-0 against the FCS.
No. 17 Southern Illinois plays No. 20 Missouri State. Missouri started 2-0 but has since lost three straight games. The Bears lost 48-31 at UND and 19-14 at Illinois State, so they need to win this game to keep their playoff hopes alive. Jason Shelley will have a chance to put up big numbers against SIU's defense.
Delaware is 5-0 with an FBS win vs. Navy. William & Mary is 4-1 with a FCS win over Charlotte and an FABS loss against Elon. The Tribe averages 241.0 yards on the ground a game. Delaware's rushing defense has been stout by allowing 122.8 YPG.
No. 12 Mercer is 4-1 overall and 4th in the FCS. Western Carolina is 70th out of 70 in passing defense. Mercer's quarterback Fred Payton is 66% passing for 1,186 yards, 13 TDs, and 0 INT this year.
Abilene Christian and Stephen F. Austin are playing each other in the FCS. ACU is 4-1, while SFA is 2-3. Abilen Christian brought in nearly 20 FBS transfers. S FAU's offense is struggling.
No. 24 Eastern Washington plays at No. 7 Weber State. Weber is 5-0 and leads the FCS with 10 interceptions. EWU is 1-3 and needs to win to have a good shot at the playoff bracket at 7-4. It would have to beat No 5 Sac State and No 3 Montana.
Davidson and St. Thomas are playing each other in the Pioneer Football League. St Thomas won the league last season, but Davidson won 42-15. Davidson has the No. 1 rushing offense in FCS. Davidson is going to win this game and go on to claim its third straight PFL title.
Dartmouth is 1-2 after two overtime defeats to Sacred Heart and Penn. Yale is 2-1 after beating Cornell and Howard. Dartmouth's Nick Howard is the starting quarterback, but he's not comfortable throwing.
