Free horse racing tips for Monday: Harry Allwood's best bets

Harry Allwood reveals his best bets for Monday, with his nap of the day running in the 5.12pm at Roscommon, live on Racing TV.

Montevideo is yet to get her head in front from three starts but this represents a marked drop in class for the three-year-old, and she should be able to take advantage.

After shaping with promise on her sole start as a two-year-old, Charlie Johnston's charge returned to action this season with a respectable effort at Goodwood before finishing third at Haydock behind two useful rivals.

Both of her past two starts have come in class two contests - and they looked decent events on paper beforehand - plus connections must hold her in relatively high regard to pitch her into races of that calibre.

She raced enthusiastically from the front when last seen and was travelling best two furlongs out (she almost hit evens in running having been sent off at 10-1) before tiring inside the final furlong, and the step back to ten furlongs is a positive.

This race doesn't look the strongest and, based upon the form she has shown so far, it will be disappointing if she is unable to get off the mark here.

At the time of writing, she's available to back at 6-4, which looks generous.

This five-year-old still looked a work in progress when scoring on her seasonal return in April (she only made her debut last year) and chased home American Sonja, who has won at Listed level and gone close in Group Three contests since, on her next start.

It is All Lies Ahead's effort in a Premier Handicap at Cork in May that stands out here, though, as she travelled powerfully into contention and hit the front on the bridle two furlongs from home.

She was eventually collared late on, but would have probably won had she been waited with a little longer, and that outing came off a pound lower mark, so she's certainly handicapped to win on a rating of 88.

Things haven't gone to plan for her since as she wasn't seen to best effect when sixth in a Listed contest following a 69-day break in August and suffered interference multiple times last time out, so it is best to forgive that effort.

Willie McCreery's charge relishes give underfoot plus her draw in stall four should allow her to get some cover. Her handler has won this race four times since 2016, too, so it is surely significant he relies on the selection this year.

She is also reunited with Billy Lee on Monday and her form figures with the leading rider aboard reads 121220. She's the nap of the day.

Charlie Johnston also looks to hold strong claims in the finale at Chepstow with Flight Of Angels who, like stablemate Montevideo, is seeking to take advantage of a drop in grade.

This Golden Horn filly has proved a consistent performer this season (bar one blip in a higher grade two starts ago) and was narrowly denied off this rating in a 0-80 contest at Epsom last time out.

Provided she is none the worse for her exertions seven days ago, she should be going close in this 0-70 contest, and I am hoping Joe Fanning will drift across from stall nine and attempt to make all, just like his mount did when winning a similar race to this off the same rating at Wetherby in June.

Ground conditions should not pose a problem and, based upon the form they have shown so far, her rivals will need to raise their game to defeat the selection.
