Haskell 2020: Monmouth Park contenders, early odds, with Authentic favored over Dr Post

The Haskell Stakes at Monmouth Park has been changed from an invitational to a Kentucky Derby prep race. The Run for the Roses has also been moved from May 2 to Sept 5 due to the coronavirus pandemic. There will be 170 qualifying points available toward the Derby in the Haskell when it is run July 18.

Authentic is one of the top contenders for the Kentucky Derby. He won the first three starts of his career. Baffert has won Haskell a record eight times.

Authentic is favored over Dr Post at Monmouth Park. Todd Pletcher has won the Haskell three times with Bluegrass Cat in 2006, Any Given Saturday in 2007 and Verrazano in 2013.

Haskell 2020 contenders are Authentic, NY Traffic, Paco Lopez and Saffie Joseph Jr. Authentica is favored over Dr Post. Ny Traffic finished second in the last two races. Pacio Lopez is a six-time riding champion at Monmouth Park.

Jesus' Team won his first race in Jose Francisco D'Angelo's barn on May 8. Jesus' team finished second behind Sole Volante in an allowance race at Gulfstream on June 10.

Haskell 2020 is a Monmouth Park contender. Authentic is favored over Dr Post. Lebda is coming off a sixth place finish in the Grade 3 Ohio Derby.

Ancient Warrior is a home-bred son of Constitution. He is trained by Jerry Hollendorfer and ridden by Trevor McCarthy. Ancient Warrior has never won beyond the maiden race in his five career starts.
