Heisman Trophy betting: USC’s Williams goes from late-season long shot to likely winner
Caleb Williams went from late-season long shot to likely winner of the Heisman Trophy. The winner will be announced on Dec. 10 in New York City. He is the eighth USC player to win the award since Reggie Bush in 2005. He was the third choice in BetMGM’s 2022 Heisman betting market. Bryce Young won the trophy last year. His teammate C.J. Stroud was slotted between him and Williams at +400. Williams played for Oklahoma last season. After replacing starter Spencer Rattler, he completed 64.5% of his passes for 1,212 yards with 21 touchdowns and just four interceptions.
Williams is a Heisman favorite despite his team's 6-0 start to the season. He had 14 passing TDs, three rushing TDs and just one interception during the team’s season-opening six-game winning streak. After the Trojans” agonizing, last-minute 43-42 loss at Utah on Oct. 15, his Heisman odds dialed back to +700. Then, he had a five-touchdown performance against Cal and a 55-17 win over Colorado. On the eve of USC‘s annual rivalry battle with UCLA, Williams celebrated his 20th birthday.
