How to Watch, Schedule, Odds for NASCAR at the Charlotte Roval

Chase Elliott won at Talladega last week to advance to the next round of the NASCAR playoffs. 11 drivers are still fighting for the remaining seven spots. The next race is at the Charlotte Motor Speedway road course this weekend.

There are 39 drivers on the entry list for the Charlotte Roval. Several road course specialists will race, including A.J. Allmendinger, Daniil Kvyat, Loris Hezemans, Conor Daly and Mike Rockenfeller. Ty Gibbs will drive the No. 23 for 23XI Racing. Alex Bowman will miss his second straight race after suffering a concussion two weeks ago. Cody Ware is also out due to a leg injury suffered in a crash two days ago, so J. Jy Yaley will fill in for him in the 51 car.

Charlotte Roval track map explains the layout of the Charlotte road course. There are 17 turns, which includes the four traditional oval turns and eight turns on the infield roadcourse portion.

The Bank of America ROVAL 400 at Charlotte begins at 2 p.m. ET on Sunday, Oct. 9. The 39-car field will be split into two groups. Each group will get a 20-minute practice session on Saturday, October 8. Two-round qualifying begins after practice at 1 p.,m., with the quickest driver in each group advancing.

NASCAR Countdown to Green is on Sunday, Oct. 9 at 1 p.m. ET on NBC and on the NBC Sports app and online. Bank of America ROVAL 400 is at 2 p.,m., on TV and the app.

There are 12 drivers left in the race for the 2022 championship. Chase Elliott is the only one locked into the Round of 8 after his win at Talladega.

Chase Elliott, automatically advanced via win. Ryan Blaney, Ross Chastain, Denny Hamlin, Joey Logano, Kyle Larson, William Byron, Daniel Suarez, are also in the running.

Chase Briscoe is -12 points from 8th place. Austin Cindric is 12 points behind him. Christopher Bell is 45 points further back. Alex Bowman is 66 points out of 8ths place now.

Bowman won't race Sunday due to a concussion. He will be eliminated from the playoffs.

Only three drivers have won at the Charlotte Roval: Elliott, Blaney and Larson. Blane won the inaugural race at Roval in 2018. Elliott won consecutive races in 2019 and 2020. Larson won last year.

This year's road race winners are the favorites to win at the Charlotte Roval. Elliott has two wins at Rovals and has seven career road wins. He has a 5.0 average finish and two victories in four starts at this track.
