INTERPOL: Investigations into football match fixing in Brazil, Ireland, Bangladesh, Zambia
Interpol releases bi-weekly "Integrity in Sport" report. Brazil, Ireland, Bangladesh, Zambia and Philippines are among the countries where corruption in sport is a problem. The FIFA Disciplinary Committee has imposed a three-match ban on the head coach of NAPSA Stars in Zambian football. In the Philippines, police caught 11 basketball players playing the game illegally gambling and betting. The global gambling industry generated record revenues in 2021. It reached USD 261 billion in the United States and EUR 87.2 billion in Europe.
