James McDonald chalks up another Caulfield carnival Group 1 win

Madame Pommery won the Thousand Guineas at Caulfield Carnival.

Madame Pommery won the $1m Thousand Guineas (1600m) on Wednesday. James McDonald rode her to victory. McDonald won a Caulfield Guines last Saturday. The Melbourne Cup champion has won eight of his past 16 Group 1 starts. The Caufield surface was wetter than expected. However, McDonald was confident that Madame Pommers would handle it well. She's Licketysplit finished second, while favourite Boogie Dancer came fourth. It's been a wet winter in Sydney. There was heavy rainfall in the past six months. A lot of the races are pace related.

Madame Pommery won the Thousand Guineas. Duckworth says the win is above expectations. The filly was bought for $150,000.

James McDonald won the Thousand Guineas at Caulfield Carnival. The winner was Madame Pommer. She was the fifth best backed runner in the race. Boogie Dance was favourite and received 40% of all bets.
