Jose Mourinho shock Arsenal Premier League title verdict with Man City and Liverpool prediction

AS Roma and former Chelsea head coach Jose Mourinho has insisted he wants Arsenal to win the Premier League title this season, but has admitted they are not favourites.

Ongoing question marks over Liverpool's chances and Man City winning just once in five games means everything is pointing towards a first league title at the Emirates Stadium since 2004. However, some continue to have their doubts.

And Mourinho, who won three Premier Leagues with Chelsea, has predicted that Man City will be crowned champions once again, despite wanting the Gunners to win.

"I would say Man City 51 [percent] and Liverpool 49 [percent]," he said on The Obi One Podcast with John Obi Mikel. Asked about Arsenal, Mourinho said: "Nah!"

He continued: "Rivalry apart, I would like them to win. Of course, Chelsea is not going to win. It is out of the question. Manchester United is not going to win it too. So it is between these three and out of these three I would like Arsenal to win it.

"But 51, 49. And I say 51, 49 because when the accumulation of matches are coming Man City has two teams."

Speaking on Sunday, Gary Neville's comments seconded Mourinho's stance on Arsenal. "I don’t think Liverpool can win the league. I had Arsenal at the start of the season and that’s only because I could see City having a little slip after the incredible treble-winning season they had last year.

"With Pep Guardiola, how many times does he only win one game in six in the league? It’s not complacency but I think there’s times where in the first part of the season, games might not feel as important as you want them to be.

"Come February, the Champions League knockout stage could come and they’ll hit the ground running. I think it’ll come down to injuries in the end - if Arsenal can keep their players fit, they’ve got an incredible chance to win it this year but you can’t rule City out obviously."
