The Chicago White Sox and the Kansas City Royals meet Monday in MLB action from Kauffman Stadium. The White Sox are fresh off a weekend series versus the Tigers. After losses in the first two games, in the finale Chicago took a close defeat for the sweep. As for Kansas City, they just finished up against the Red Sox. The two teams split the first pair, and in the Sunday rubber match the Royals fell by four runs. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Chicago White Sox

The Sox took a 4-2 loss to the Tigers back on Friday, then turned in a pretty ugly performance in game two during a 10-0 blowout loss. Chicago gave up 18 hits in that one and only had four themselves. In the finale the Sox couldn’t score after the first inning during a 3-2 defeat. Eloy Jimenez (two hits) and Elvis Andrus provided the two RBI.

In the starter role for Monday’s game the White Sox will go with Jesse Scholtens. This year Scholtens is 1-6 with a 3.97 ERA and 47 Ks in 70.1 innings of work. Scholtens is 0-3 with a 4.59 ERA in his last seven games (six starts).

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll probably stay with the Royals in this one. Scholtens is coming off a nice effort in his last outing versus Baltimore, posting a no-decision with one earned in 5.1 frames. In his two starts prior to that however, Scholtens is 0-1 with 10 earned runs in 8.2 combined frames. Kansas City will have some opportunities to score early if he can’t get it going. On Sunday in their finale Kansas City couldn’t get anything going on eight team hits and a couple of the pitchers really struggled. That said, the Royals have three or more runs in four of their last five games so I think they could score well enough to pull off the W.
