Kentucky Derby odds: Vegas lists 175 horses, 2 favorites

Dornoch reclaimed his place this week as a Las Vegas favoritefor Kentucky Derby 2024. But using capital letters, he was not necessarily The Favorite.

After his victory Saturday against a scratched-marred renewalof the Grade 2 Fountain of Youth Stakes, Dornoch went from more than 12-1 to shorterthan 9-1, plus 850 to be exact, by Wednesday morning at Circa Sports. That madehim fractionally shorter than Risen Star (G2) winner Sierra Leone, who was plus860.

At the same time, Dornoch’s odds were cut from plus 850 to7-1 at Caesars Sportsbook. The Danny Gargan-trained colt was still the secondchoice at that chain of Nevada shops, where Sierra Leone held firm as a 5-1favorite.

Speak Easy, who was taken out of the Fountain of Youth afterhe got loose from the post parade and cut himself along a rail, had a differentkind of cut in Las Vegas. He went from best odds of 30-1 to 20-1. The threeother horses scratched Saturday at Gulfstream Park went different directions inNevada. Victory Avenue was shortened from 55-1 to 20-1. Locked, who might havebeen bet down to the Fountain of Youth favorite if Todd Pletcher had let himrun, drifted from 15-1 to 25-1. Merit drifted from 300-1 to 500-1.

Among other Derby prep winners last weekend, Deterministic wasshortened from best odds of 150-1 to 30-1 after the Gotham (G3). BattagliaMemorial victor Encino went from 400-1 to 90-1 at Circa but remained unlistedat Caesars.

Since their trainer Bob Baffert is ineligible to take horsesto the Kentucky Derby, Imagination and Wine Me Up remained conspicuous by theirabsence from the Las Vegas futures after they went 1-2 in the San Felipe (G2).Third-place Mc Vay opened at 400-1, and last-place Scatify drifted to 300-1.

Of the horses regarded by the Tampa Bay Downs racing officeas likely entrants going for Kentucky Derby points Saturday in the Tampa BayDerby (G3), both Sam F. Davis (G3) victor NoMore Time and Holy Bull (G3) runner-up Domestic Product were 90-1.

Five horses were added and four dropped from the Nevada market, putting the number of Kentucky Derby betting choices at 175. They are listedhere in order of their best odds as shown on the Caesars and Circa betting appsWednesday morning:
