Kentucky Derby odds: There is a new favorite among 240 horses

Another week brings another new consensus favorite in theNevada futures market for Kentucky Derby 2024. Now it is Dornoch.

Already carrying the shortest odds at Circa Sports in LasVegas, the Danny Gargan-trained winner of the Grade 2 Remsen Stakes this month was cut from 35-1 to15-1 to become the co-favorite at Caesars Sportsbook in Nevada.

Circa drifted Dornoch from 10-1 to 11-1, but hestill was showing as that book’s sole favorite Wednesday morning.

Fierceness, the division champion in waiting who won theBreeders’ Cup Juvenile, held firm at 15-1 and was the other co-favorite atCaesars. Circa shortened him from 20-1 to a second choice of 13-1.

Nash, the maiden winner who is the 7-5 morning-line favoriteSaturday in the Gun Runner Stakes at Fair Grounds, attracted action at both Nevadashops. The Brad Cox-trained colt by Medaglia d’Oro went from 40-1 to 18-1 atCaesars and from 18-1 to 15-1 at Caesars.

“Our first week people bet Dornoch like they knew he hadwon,” Circa oddsmaker Paul Zilm said. “Then it was Nash.”

Nysos, the Bob Baffert-trained, Grade 3 winner who was thebest-priced favorite last week without actually being the top choice at eitherLas Vegas book, held firm at 18-1 at Caesars and was cut to 16-1 at Caesars.Now he is the consensus fourth choice in the futures market.

Between Caesars and Circa, six 2-year-olds were added to themarket and two were dropped, bringing the number of betting choices to 240. Theyare listed here in order of their best prices Wednesday morning as shown inbold:
