Back honours even at the break

England captain Harry Kane and his teammates head into this clash on the back of a disappointing 3-0 Bundesliga defeat to Bayer Leverkusen last Saturday, a result that has left the reigning German champions five points adrift of Xabi Alonso’s table-toppers.

That loss ended a run of three consecutive wins for Thomas Tuchel’s side, but the performances in those victories were not that convincing and they were made to work hard for one-goal margins over Union Berlin and Augsburg.

Questions are being asked of Bayern and they will not find life easy when they take on a Lazio side that have kept clean sheets in their previous three home assignments, keeping Roma and Lecce (both 1-0) and Napoli (0-0) at bay.

This could turn out to be a war of attrition between these two sides and, therefore, backing the scores to be level at half-time looks a solid play at 13/10.

Lazio have been all-square at the break in their past four home matches, while Bayern have been level after 45 minutes in all three away Champions League outings this season.

King Kane provides assist value

Former Tottenham favourite Kane has been in red-hot form in front of goal since joining Bayern, scoring 28 goals in all competitions, but it may prove prudent to back him in the anytime assist market in Rome.

The 30-year-old has registered three assists in the Champions League this season, the most of any player in the Bavarians’ squad, while he has five to his name in the Bundesliga.

Priced up at 10/3, King Kane, as he is affectionately known at Bayern, looks good value to set up one of his teammates.

Bookings and shots create tempting bet builder

There could be plenty of tackles flying in at the Stadio Olimpico and this should increase the possibility of the referee reaching for the cards, with Lazio’s Matias Vecino and Bayern’s Sacha Boey two candidates to be booked.

Uruguay international Vecino has been cautioned four times in 18 Serie A appearances, of which just one has been a start, and he has committed 10 fouls and received three yellow cards in the Champions League.

As for Boey, the 23-year-old defender joined Bayern in January and has already made his mark when it comes to discipline, having picked up one caution in two Bundesliga outings.

The Frenchman has also been shown three yellows in the Champions League this season during his time with Turkish outfit Galatasaray, and there is every chance his name will go in the book again.

Wrapping up this bet builder is Lazio forward Ciro Immobile to have one or more shots on target. The Italy international has had seven attempts in Europe and four of these have been on target.

The 33-year-old has netted in each of his previous two outings and it would be no surprise to see him test the goalkeeper at least twice.
