Los Angeles Angels vs Baltimore Orioles Prediction 05-18-2023 MLB Picks

The Los Angeles Angels and the Baltimore Orioles meet Thursday in MLB action from Oriole Park. This will be the finale in a four-game series this week. After a split in the first two games, on Wednesday the Orioles managed a two-run victory. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Los Angeles Angels

The Angels managed a 9-5 victory in the Monday opener of this series, but then fell 7-3 in game two. On Wednesday Los Angeles had just four team hits in a 3-1 loss. Griffin Canning put up 5.1 innings in the start with three earned on nine hits and two walks.

For the starter job in the Thursday game, the Angels will go with Tyler Anderson. In his seven starts so far Anderson is 1-0 with a 5.26 ERA and 25 Ks in 37.2 innings. Anderson is 45-43 with a 4.21 ERA in 154 career games (148 starts).

Baltimore Orioles

Over on the Orioles’ side, they scored three runs in both the fourth and sixth innings during the Tuesday win. On Wednesday Baltimore had 11 hits and never trailed the victory. Kyle Bradish lasted 6.2 innings with one earned on four hits, no walks and five Ks.

Tyler Wells will take the mound for the start on Thursday. Across eight games (seven starts) this year Wells is 3-1 with a 2.68 ERA and 39 strikeouts over 47.0 total innings. Wells is 12-11 with a 3.86 ERA over 75 games in his MLB career (30 starts).

The Angels are 24-51 in their last 75 versus a team with a winning record and 2-5 in their last seven in game four of a series. LA is 10-28 in their last 38 versus the AL East.

Meanwhile, the O’s are 4-0 in their last four Thursday games and 22-7 in their last 29 versus the AL West. The over is 4-0 in Baltimore’s last four Thursday games.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’m staying Orioles in this one. Wells is pitching “well” over his last pair, combining for 12.0 innings, one earned, four hits and three walks in that time. Anderson hasn’t been bad either; he’s got six combined earned runs over his last 17.2 innings but doesn’t have a decision in that time. On Wednesday Baltimore got an extremely well-rounded effort from the offense; just one batter failed to register a hit. The O’s had a great bullpen performance as well, and I like Baltimore to keep it going in the finale.
