Louisiana's sports betting business posted a monthly increase of 8.4% in August. The majority of bets were placed online. Retail betting was down 6.7%. The state's online sportsbooks handled $112.1 million in July.
August was the second-worst month for profits since the introduction of sports betting in Louisiana. Online income decreased from $19.2 million in July to $7.3 million. Retail sales grew from $1.6 million to $2. 2 million since May. Since July, the overall industry income has decreased by 54. 3%.
