Love letter ACC's always-chaotic division

The Coastal Division of the ACC is unpredictable. Media picked the Coastal winner seven times in 17 preseason polls. The division has had seven different champions over a seven-year stretch. The conference does away with divisions in 2023. If Notre Dame is added to the division in 2020, it would be eight division champions in eight years. It would also be the last division champion. Miami and Virginia Tech were added in 2004. Boston College came in 2005. They were the reason for the formation of Atlantic and Coastal Divisions. There was a three-way tie in 2012, but Georgia Tech won the title.

Frank Beamer raised his arms in triumph when Virginia Tech went into overtime tied 0-0 with Wake Forest. Lance Austin returned a blocked field goal 78 yards for a touchdown to give Georgia Tech a stunning 22-16 upset of No. 9 Florida State.
