Lucky 15 Tips for Cheltenham Festival: Selections for Tuesday March 14

What is a Lucky 15?

It’s one of those phrases you’re likely to hear during the Cheltenham Festival, so we thought it would be a good idea to explain exactly what a Lucky 15 means and how easy it is to place such a bet.

In short, the Lucky 15 is an acca including four elements, although all four bets don’t have to win to produce a profit/return. The selections are combined into one four-fold accumulator, trebles, doubles and individual singles.

So, the Lucky 15 can be summed up as follows: 1 accumulator, 4 trebles, 6 double, 4 singles = 15 bets

An each-way Lucky 15, as advised below, is therefore 30 bets, and you will get a return of some kind if only one horse places.

OSCAR ELITE – 2.50 Cheltenham

Third in the same race as an inexperienced novice last season, OSCAR ELITE looks to have really come of age now on the back of his Grade 2 Reynoldstown success at Ascot last time. It was only a small field but he won stylishly and consequently looks dangerously well handicapped if it really has finally all clicked into place.

LOVE ENVOI – 4.10 Cheltenham

LOVE ENVOI looks well worth a chance as she bids to take the step up to Grade 1 level in her stride. Harry Fry’s star completed a remarkable six-timer when winning the novices’ event for mares at last year’s Festival and, although she had to settle for second at Fairyhouse the following month, she’s kicked on again this term. She stays this trip well and handles cut in the ground so seems sure to put in another bold bid in what looks a warm renewal.

BYKER – 4.50 Cheltenham

The Charles Byrnes-trained BYKER has looked a work in progress since first starting out over hurdles and he’s improved with every run. Last month’s third in a typically informative novice at event at Naas was particularly eyecatching and a BHA rating of 128 should be well within his grasp. His maiden hurdle success came on soft ground but he won on good on the Flat too so seems perfectly versatile.

CHEMICAL ENERGY – 5.30 Cheltenham

The Willie Mullins-trained Gaillard Du Mesnil is going to be a short price here but the each-way value lies with Gordon Elliott’s promising CHEMICAL ENERGY. He ran quite well in the Martin Pipe Handicap Hurdle here last year and has taken to fences very well this time around. He wasn’t at his best when last seen at Naas in January but can be excused one sloppy round of jumping having looked sharp in that department previously. He’s a huge threat to all if back on song.

How to place a Lucky 15 bet

It is very simple to place a Lucky 15 with Sky Bet. All you have to do is add each selection to your bet slip, click ‘Show all multiples’ under the ‘Multiples’ tab at the top of ‘My Bet Slip’, then input your stake under ‘Lucky 15’.

Remember, the bet will cost 15x your individual stake, so for example a 20p each-way Lucky 15 will amount to a £6.00 stake. A £2 win Lucky 15 will cost £30 in total.
