Luke Schenn's sons get a kick out of a hockey series for young readers
Luke Schenn's sons Kingston and Weston love reading books by Brady Brady. Scenn reads to his sons every night before bedtime. He also reads business books in the morning. He reads on the plane when the team is travelling. The Invisible String and The Kissing Hand are books that help ease Kingston's transition to kindergarten. It was the same for Scensn as his parents read to him. They used to read bedtimes stories. His dad also helped him with homework. he reads in morning and on planes. when he's training. and chasing kids around. it's good to start them at an early age.
Raise-a-Reader has provided more than $21 million to promote literacy in B.C. since its launch in 1997. The money supports programs such as Partners in Education Plus offered by the Canucks Family Education Centre.
