Pearson, Podkolzin and Höglander are the only players left in the opening night top-nine. Høgland struggled to maintain his spot in Bruce Boudreau's lineup as a second-year player. Travis Dermott is going to compete with Jack Rathbone for a spot on the team. The Canucks want to keep both Rathbones and Dermot on their roster. Quinn Hughes and Oliver Ekman-Larsson are going on left-wing. The experiment involving Quinn and OEL on right-side is not a success yet. It's more likely that Hughes will stay on that side.
