Goals on the menu in Manchester

It is extremely rare for City to take things easy once in a commanding position and they will be keen to maintain their Champions League momentum with a comfortable win over Young Boys.

All three of their wins in the competition this season have been by a 3-1 scoreline and there is scope for them to be even more free-scoring on Tuesday, despite the potential absence of star striker Erling Haaland.

He was taken off at half-time against Bournemouth on Saturday and could be rested with Sunday’s league game at Chelsea in mind. But City showed the Cherries no mercy, running out 6-1 winners at the weekend.

Six of City’s past eight home Champions League games have featured at least four goals and it would be no surprise if that was the case again, with Guardiola’s side favourites to claim their fourth victory.

Manchester City vs Young Boys tip 1: Manchester City and over 3.5 goals @ Evens with Betfair

Alvarez can fill Haaland void

Haaland’s potential absence could allow Argentina’s Julian Alvarez to play in a more advanced role and he can set the home side on their way with the first goal in Tuesday’s contest.

Even with the Norwegian goal machine in the team, Alvarez has still had 32 efforts on goal this season, only seven fewer than Haaland.

He is likely to be pushed forward and with City possessing a huge range of attacking threats in wide areas, Alvarez could be on hand to convert early on. He also scored twice in the earlier home group game against Red Star Belgrade.

Manchester City vs Young Boys tip 2: Julian Alvarez to score first @ 16/5 with Betfair

Doku can play a starring role

There are three elements to select in our bet builder, which pays out at 8/1, and with a comfortable City victory on the cards, Guardiola’s side should be backed to win by at least three goals.

The Champions League holders rarely take their foot off the gas and they have scored at least three in seven of their past eight home games in the competition, so they should have few problems against the Group G strugglers from Switzerland.

Jeremy Doku was superb in Saturday’s 6-1 win over Bournemouth, scoring and providing four assists for his team-mates. He should be backed to do one or the other again on Tuesday.

Young Boys defender Mohamed Ali Camara could go into the book, as he has in four of his last five appearances, including the last two Champions League games against City and Red Star Belgrade.

Manchester City vs Young Boys tip 3: Bet builder: Manchester City -2.5, Jeremy Doku to score or assist, Mohamed Ali Camara to be shown a card @ 8/1 with Betfair
