Maple Leafs same game parlay predictions vs. Kraken Jan. 21: Back Toronto to turn it around in Seattle

The Toronto Maple Leafs visit the Seattle Kraken for the second half of a back-to-back.

The pregame narrative: The Leafs have struggled lately but they have a good opportunity to get back on track tonight. I'm backing them to win and taking the over on an alt total. Lastly, expect Morgan Rielly to continue to be involved offensively.

Same-game parlay Maple Leafs predictions

Parlay: Maple Leafs moneyline + Over 5.5 goals + Rielly to record 1+ points (+285)

Maple Leafsmoneyline (-118): The Leafs are 1-4 over their last five, but those losses have come to relatively strong teams. Facing the Kraken feels like a bit of a breather.

Also, Toronto is a particularly strong road team, boasting a 12-5-6 record away from Scotiabank Arena this season.

Seattle is back at home after a six-game road trip, so the team could still be recovering from its travels. And keep in mind that the Kraken's offence isn't all that good to begin with. They score the sixth-fewest goals per game (2.8), which is good news for a Leafs squad that's been struggling with goaltending lately.

Another tidbit is the discrepancy in faceoff percentages. Toronto wins draws at the fifth-highest rate (53.8%), while Seattle is the eighth-worst at the dot (47.6%). Winning faceoffs could result in extra scoring chances for the already dangerous Leafs' offence.

Other parlay picks

Over 5.5 goals (-148): Each of Toronto's past seven games has topped this number, and nothing less is expected tonight.

The Kraken are an above-average defensive squad but they still rank outside the top 10 in goals allowed per game (2.9). On top of that, they've gone over this total in four of their last six games.

Toronto is everything that's desired in a team when taking the over. The offence ranks top five in goals scored (3.5/game) and sixth in shots (33.4/game).

The Maple Leafs do all of that while playing below-average defence. They give up 30.9 shots and 3.3 goals per contest — both of which are 11th-most in the NHL.

These two teams met in November and combined for seven total goals.

Rielly to record 1+ points (-143): Rielly has been a consistent factor in Toronto's offence. He's scored at least one point in seven of his last nine games.

He's on the ice a lot too, leading the team with 24:23 per game. The newly named all-star captain gets a lot of looks with the top scorers on the Leafs' top two lines.

Rielly's recent hot streak makes this a good bet to close out the parlay.
