Maple Leafs vs Canucks Prediction, Odds & Picks Mar 04

The Toronto Maple Leafs have traded a significant amount of draft capital in order to bolster their roster as best as possible.

If you’ve been following the NHL news, it’s clear that this team is clearly built to win a Stanley Cup right now and anything less than that would be a disappointment.

Toronto is in the midst of a west coast road trip and the next stop is Vancouver on Saturday. The Canucks have alternated between wins and losses throughout their last six games coming.

Can they surprise as a dog in this one or will Toronto win as expected?

Maple Leafs Have Some Momentum

Toronto has been a consistent team. The Leafs haven’t lost more than two in a row since October and they’re roster is loaded. They score the seventh most goals per game out of any team in the league and allow the fourth fewest goals to their opponents.

In the past week, we’ve seen them add Luke Schenn alongside Erik Gustafsson. These two defensemen join a team that’s also acquired the veteran Ryan O’Reilly from the St. Louis Blues.

These talented players will work alongside a strong skating offense consisting of Mitch Marner, William Nylander, Auston Matthews, and John Tavares. It makes this team a tantalizing option for your NHL picks.

If this group wasn’t already impressive, their goaltending rounds it out. They boast one of the best goalies in the league. Ilya Samsonov is 22-8-2 this year with a 2.39 GAA and a .915 save percentage to go with it.

He’s got the 11th-best record, the seventh-best GAA and the 12th-best save percentage. He got the night off last time the Leafs were out there, so if you bet online, note that he should be fresh in this one.

Canucks Franchise Demoralized

Vancouver has three wins in the last six but two were in overtime. The other was against the lowly Philadelphia Flyers. This team has 57 points and is clearly heading toward a rebuild.

There are a few standouts on this roster though even without Bo Horvat following his trade. Elias Pettersson and Quinn Hughes are among the leaders. Pettersson has a team-high 76 points with Hughes racking up 57 as a defenseman.

Goaltending has been a bit of a worry this season. Thatcher Demko recently returned from an injury these last two games and had mixed results. If he gets another nod in the net, the CanucksNHL odds won’t look great. He has an .888 save percentage this season.

If you’re looking at the NHL betting lines, on paper, it doesn’t look like Vancouver matches up well. However, note that Toronto has just five wins in their last 16 trips to Vancouver.

At the same time, the Canucks have dropped 14 of 17 against teams with a winning record of .600 or better. In terms of online gambling, those aren’t great odds. Bet on Toronto to get the win.
