Marlins vs Angels Prediction

The Miami Marlins will travel to Anaheim to start an interleague series with the Los Angeles Angels this Friday from Angel Stadium.

Marlins Betting Preview

Miami moved to 25-25 after dropping three of four to Colorado. The Marlins nearly dropped five straight before blowing the Rockies out in game three, and they’ll look to turn the tide in Anaheim here. The Miami offense is scoring 3.17 runs per game, while batting .247, with a .302 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 4.84 ERA, with a 1.38 WHIP. Luis Arraez produced two runs in the series finale against Colorado, and he leads Miami in BA (.371) and hits (63). Jorge Soler has homered in four of the last five games, and he’s up to team-leads of 15 HR and 31 RBI. Yuli Gurriel caught fire at Coors with nine hits in three games, and he’s second on the team in batting (.299).

Jesus Luzardo (3-3, 3.83 ERA, 63 Ks) will take the mound for Miami. The sixth-year lefty had a tough time in the Bay last week, allowing six runs in five innings to earn his third losing decision of the season. Luzardo did manage to strike out eight batters, and he’s cleared six Ks in five of his last seven starts.

Angels Betting Preview

Los Angeles moved to 28-23 after sweeping Boston. The Angels have now won six of their last seven games, and they’ll now look to close this month on a high note. The LAA offense is scoring 4.16 runs per game, while batting .252, with a .331 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 4.33 ERA, with a 1.27 WHIP. Mike Trout homered in the final two games against Boston, and he leads the Halos in runs (33), with 12 homers and 27 RBI. Shohei Ohtani leads LAA in hits (53) and RBI (33), and he’s tied with Trout for the team-lead in home runs with 12. Gio Urshela leads the team in batting (.299), after recording a hit in eight of the last ten games.

Reid Detmers (0-3, 4.87 ERA, 53 Ks) will make the road start for Los Angeles. The third-year lefty has endured a tough beginning to the season, but he struck out a career-high 12 batters in his start versus Minnesota last week over 5.2 innings. While Detmers has only delivered one quality start this season, he has managed to clear six strikeouts in six of eight appearances.

Miami vs Anaheim Trends

Miami is 19-32 against the spread this season, with a 22-27-2 O/U record. LA Angels are 26-25 ATS this year, with a 23-24-1 over/under record.

Corey’s Free Pick

It may be too soon to say, but the Angels have really well this month, and they might actually be real this season. The Halos boast the best tandem in the league, and I like trusting them here in spite of Reid Detmers unlucky start to the year. The Marlins won’t be the toughest lineup to pitch against, and if he can capitalize on pitching at home, they should be able to win a fifth straight contest. Back the Angels for game one of this interleague series, and with volatility on both sides, give the manageable Over a look.
