Marlins vs Mariners Prediction

The Miami Marlins will head up to the Pacific Northwest to start an interleague series with the Seattle Mariners this Monday night from T-Mobile Park.

Marlins Betting Preview

Miami moved to 37-29 after taking two of three from Chicago. The Marlins hot month of June continued with a strong weekend in the Southside against the White Sox,  business and capitalized on the easiest home stand a team could ask for, bringing the brooms out on Oakland and Kansas City to win six straight games. The Miami offense is scoring 3.17 runs per game, while batting .247, with a .302 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 4.84 ERA, with a 1.38 WHIP. Luis Arraez continues to be a terror at the plate, and after recording multiple hits in six of the last eight games, he’s leading the league in batting (.396) and hits (91). Bryan De La Cruz has plated a run in four of the last six games, and he’s hitting .295, with 35 RBI. Jorge Soler went yard twice in the series finale in Chicago, and he leads Miami in HR (19) and RBI (38).

Jesus Luzardo (5-4, 3.79 ERA, 63 Ks) will take the mound for Miami. The sixth-year lefty put together his strongest outing of the season last week against Kansas City, tossing eight strikeouts over a season-high seven innings of work to earn his fifth victory. Luzardo has been a bit unpredictable when it comes to allowing runs, but he has been consistent when it comes to strikeouts, as he’s cleared seven Ks in five straight starts.

Mariners Betting Preview

Seattle enters at 31-32 after defeating Los Angeles. The Mariners avoided a second three-game skid in June with the win last night, and they’ll look to get back to .500 here.  The Seattle offense is scoring 3.67 runs per game, while batting .227, with a .308 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 3.55 ERA, with a 1.19 WHIP. Ty France has a hit in six straight games, and he leads Seattle in hits (70), with solid splits of .275/5/28. Julio Rodriguez went deep last night, and he now holds the team-lead in home runs (12), with 36 RBI. Teoscar Hernandez has a hit in seven of the last ten games, and he’s up to 33 RBI.

Bryce Miller (3-3, 4.46 ERA, 28 Ks) will start for Seattle. The rookie pitcher has watched his fast start level out after two tough outings against Texas and New York. Miller was blown up quickly in Austin last week, giving up seven runs in just 2.1 innings to the Rangers en route to a second straight loss. Miller had allowed just four runs combined through his first five big league starts, and after allowing 15 runs in his last two spots, he’ll attempt to get back on track here against Miami.

Miami vs Seattle Trends

Miami is 31-31 against the spread this season, with a 35-24-2 O/U record. Seattle is 29-32 ATS this year, with a 21-37-2 over/under record.

Corey’s Free Pick

Miami is a fun team full of flamethrowers, and despite Sandy Alcantara’s regression, they’ll send their next best arm to the hill in Jesus Luzardo in an appealing underdog spot. Bryce Miller’s last two outings have exposed him a bit, and Miami’s lineup is quietly potent. This feels like a contest the Marlins can steal, and I like taking the profitable shot with them in game one. Roll with Miami Monday night.
