Maryland Sportsbooks Get NFL-Related Bump in Action for September
Maryland Lottery and Gaming reported on Tuesday that the seven legal sportsbooks in the state handled approximately $31.4 million in bets during September. The monthly handle shot up 68.2% compared to August’s $18.6 million. Gross revenue for operators amounted to $6.5 million, while win rate was 17.3%. The top sportsbook by handle in Maryland in September was at Live! Casino and Hotel in Hanover, where the FanDuel retail book took $12.7 million and the runner-up was MGM National Harbor in Oxon Hill, which took almost $8 million of bets.
Maryland's retail sportsbooks took $200 million in bets during September. The state does not have any legal online sportsbook operating in the state. Mobile sports betting is expected to launch in late November. It will be two years after the voters in Maryland authorized event wagering. Louisiana and South Dakota have already launched some form of wagerering within their states.
