New Jersey Sports Betting Stays Below 2021 Levels in September

New Jersey sportsbooks took $866.7 million in bets in September. The last time New Jersey's sports betting handle topped 2021 levels was in April. Online sportsbetting in New York was launched in January of this year. New Yorkers can no longer travel to New Zealand to bet on sports. It was the first time any U.S. state had broken the billion-dollar mark.

New Jersey sports-wagering revenue in September was almost $98 million. The hold for New Jersey's sportsbooks last month was 11.3%, weaker than August’s 11%. The unofficial hold in 2021 is 8.15%. Meadowlands Racing and Entertainment was the top sportsbook licensee in New York state.
