Mets vs. Braves prediction: MLB odds, picks, best bets

The Mets were the preseason favorites to win the NL East, but it’s the Atlanta Braves who currently sit atop the division.

The Amazin’s will try to close the gap on Wednesday when the teams meet in Atlanta. Max Scherzer (5-2, 3.21 ERA) gets the start for the Mets, with Atlanta turning to Charlie Morton (5-6, 3.62 ERA).

Scherzer enters this game on a roll.

In his last four starts, he’s allowed just four runs over 25 innings, with the Mets going 4-0 in those contests.

In his last outing, Scherzer gave up two runs in the first inning to the Phillies before settling down and holding Philadelphia scoreless the rest of the way in a 4-2 Mets victory.

Morton is only 5-6, but he’s had some tough luck recently, losing his last two outings 3-2 and 2-1.

In his lone start versus the Mets this season, Morton gave up six hits and four runs in a 5-3 Braves loss.

He has had success against current Mets batters overall, though, holding them to a .237 average in 190 career at-bats.

Scherzer has been great lately, but the Mets really struggle against Atlanta.

Entering Tuesday, the Braves had won eighth of the last 10 meetings overall and six of seven in Atlanta.

I like that trend to continue on Wednesday.
