Milwaukee Brewers vs Cincinnati Reds Prediction 7-9-23 MLB Picks

The Cincinnati Reds and the Milwaukee Brewers meet Sunday in MLB action from American Family Field. This will be the finale in a three-game series over the weekend. The Brewers won by four in the opener, then on Saturday the Reds evened it up with a three-run victory. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Cincinnati Reds

The Reds couldn’t get much going at the plate on Friday, posting just four hits in a 7-3 loss. On Saturday Cincinnati fell behind 4-1 after the third inning but eventually powered out an 8-5 win. Starter Luke Weaver went 3.2 innings with five earned on six hits and two walks.

In the starter slot for the Reds on Sunday, the team didn’t immediately announce a name.

Milwaukee Brewers

Over on the Milwaukee side, they scored two runs in three different innings in the Friday opener. In game two the Brewers were out-hit 13-9 and didn’t score after the fourth inning. Colin Rea put up 4.2 innings in the start with five earned on seven hits and a walk.

Wade Miley will come out for the start Sunday. Across his 12 starts this year Miley is 5-2 with a 3.36 ERA and 38 Ks in 61.2 innings. Miley is 104-96 with a 4.10 ERA in 304 career games (297 starts).

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll probably lean toward the Brewers. Miley was a little sketchy in his last outing (5.0 innings and four earned versus the Cubs in a no-decision) but he’d been pitching fairly well prior to that. Miley had just two earned over his previous 10.0 frames. On Saturday Milwaukee had a nice start offensively but ultimately fizzled out. The pen gave up three earned in 4.1 innings on six hits and a walk as well. It’s going to take a more focused all-around effort for the Brewers to win this series, but I think they’re the better option.
