Milwaukee Brewers vs Cincinnati Reds Prediction 7-7-23 MLB Picks

The Cincinnati Reds and the Milwaukee Brewers meet Friday in MLB action from American Family Field. The Reds just finished up a series versus the Nationals. After wins in the first three games, on Thursday Cincinnati eked out another victory. As for Milwaukee, they played the Cubs in their last set. Milwaukee lost two of the first three, then in the finale the Brewers had a tight win as well. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Cincinnati Reds

The Reds took out the Nationals 3-2, 8-4 and 9-2 in the first three games of their last series. On Thursday Cincinnati bagged two runs in the top of the 10th inning in a 5-4 win. Starter Brandon Williamson left after 3.0 clean frames with one hit and one walk alongside four Ks.

For the starter job on Friday the Reds are going with Andrew Abbott. In his six starts this year (the first six of his career) Abbott is 4-0 with a 1.21 ERA and 42 Ks in 37.1 innings.

Milwaukee Brewers

Over on the Brewers’ side, they beat the Cubs 8-6 in the opener but then fell 7-6 and 4-3 in the next pair. On Thursday Milwaukee posted four runs in the fifth inning on the way to a tense 6-5 win. Starter Freddy Peralta lasted 5.1 innings on three earned, four hits, three walks and 10 Ks.

It’ll be Corbin Burnes in the start for the Brewers on Friday. Across 17 starts this year Burnes is 6-5 with a 4.00 ERA and 96 Ks in 101.1 innings. Burnes is 41-24 with a 3.34 ERA in 152 career games (91 starts).

The Reds are 6-1 in their last seven in game one of a series and 21-6 in the last 27 road games. The over is 16-5 in Cincinnati’s last 21 in game one of a series.

Meanwhile, the Brewers are 2-5 in their last seven at home versus a lefty starter and 9-4 in their last 13 versus the NL Central. The over is 6-1 in Milwaukee’s last seven in game one of a series.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll stick with the Reds here. Abbott has been great over his last two starts, notching two earned on six hits and four walks in 13.2 combined innings. As for Burnes, he gave up just two in 7.0 innings during a win over the Pirates in his last outing but had 11 earned in his previous 10.2 innings. On Thursday Cincinnati didn’t get much out of their offense on six team hits, but they made the most of it. The Reds used seven different pitchers—which could hurt them here—but if Abbot keeps things up I think they’ll be okay.
