Cincinnati Reds vs Milwaukee Brewers Prediction 6-4-23 MLB Picks

The Milwaukee Brewers and the Cincinnati Reds meet Sunday in MLB action from Great American Ball Park. This will be the third installment in a four-game series. The Brewers took an extra-innings victory in the opener, then on Saturday Milwaukee powered out a high-scoring win. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Milwaukee Brewers

The Brewers scored two in the top of the 11th inning Friday, finishing off a 5-4 win. In the Saturday game two Milwaukee bagged 11 hits in a 10-8 win. Colin Rea lasted 5.0 innings in the start with three earned, six hits and three walks.

For the starter job on Sunday the Brewers will go with Adrian Houser. Over five starts this year Houser is 1-1 with a 4.07 ERA and 17 strikeouts over 24.1 innings. Houser is 24-30 with a 3.98 ERA in 111 career games (81 starts).

Cincinnati Reds

Over on the Reds’ side, they managed just three hits (and two errors) in the Friday loss. On Saturday Cincinnati gave up nine runs in just the first three frames. Starter Graham Ashcraft lasted 4.0 innings with 10 earned on nine hits and four walks.

In the starter slot for the Sunday matchup the Reds are going with Ben Lively. In his five games (three starts) so far Lively is 3-2 with a 1.99 ERA and 24 Ks in 22.2 innings. Lively is 7-12 with a 4.35 ERA in 31 games (23 starts) over his career.

The Brewers are 4-0 in their last four Sunday games and 5-11 in their last 16 road games. The over is 4-0 in Milwaukee’s last four Sunday games.

Meanwhile, the Reds are 13-28 in their last 41 versus the NL Central and 18-41 in their last 59 versus a right-handed starter. Cincinnati is 1-6 in the last seven Sunday games.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll stay with the Brewers here. That said, we should have a fun starter matchup on our hands. Lively is 2-1 with just four earned in 17.1 innings total over his last three starts. As for Houser, he had some trouble in his last outing (4.1 innings; six earned) but had 11.1 clean frames over two starts before that. I think Houser will bounce back in this one. On Saturday Milwaukee got off to a hot start and ended up powering out the win but did give up quite a bit of offense to the Reds. The bases-loaded scenario at the end of the game could have been a disaster as well. That said, I think the Brewers can keep it going well enough to win in the finale.
