Miomir Kecmanovic vs Tommy Paul – match predictions

Tommy Paul to Win

Kecmanovic has a winning record against Paul and will fancy his chances in the first round of the Western & Southern Open. However, with a 19-22 losing record, the odds are against him and with good reason. Paul reached the semi-final of the Canadian Open, defeating Alcaraz in the process. Moreover, he has a 34-19 record and is not the same man who lost thrice to Kecmanovic. Given his much better form, we are backing Paul to triumph.

Over 21.5 Games

Despite his recent poor form, Kecmanovic has not laid down against his rivals. His last three matches have been three-set affairs with an extended number of games being played. The Serbian has also won three matches against the American, which will make him give extra to get a win under his belt. Paul’s last win against Alcaraz saw 28 games and he will have extra incentive to end his losing run against Kecmanovic. Based on this, we are expecting a longish duel with at least over 21.5 games being played.

Miomir Kecmanovic vs Tommy Paul preview

Our predictions for this match have now been established, let’s see how these players have fared so far in the Cincinnati Open.

Miomir Kecmanovic

After reaching the semi-final of the Gastad Open, Dusan Lajovic ended his aspirations of a clay court triumph in Hamburg. His return to the hard court circuit saw him register a hard-fought win against Cristian Garin. He next faced Hubert Hurkacz in the second round, another three-set battle ensued that saw him on the wrong side of the 2-1 result. He will hope to improve on this against a familiar foe but will have to give a better account of his abilities.

Tommy Paul

While Kecmanovic focuses on his transition to the hard courts, Paul has been busy. He reached the second round of the Los Cabos Open and in Toronto earned his best return on the ATP 1000 Masters event. He defeated all and sundry, including world number 1, Carlos Alcaraz, en route to his semi-final defeat to Jannik Sinner. He has a 34-19 record in 2023 on the tour and has a much better form than Kecmanovic’s 19-22 in the calendar year.

Miomir Kecmanovic vs Tommy Paul head to head

Paul and Kecmanovic have faced each other thrice, the Serbian triumphing on each occasion. Kecmanovic defeated Paul in the 2020 New York Open and UTR Pro Match Series meetings. They met last year at the Australian Open, with the result being the same in Kecmanovic.
