MLB awards 2023 odds: MVP, Cy Young & Rookie of Year picks

The 2023 Major League Baseball regular season is nearly two weeks away.

In 2022, St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Paul Goldschmidt won his first NL MVP trophy at 35-years-old after opening at +5000 to win the award.

Here are three players you should bet on to win MVP, CY Young and Rookie of the Year in the National League with odds powered by Tipico Sportsbook.

NL MVP: Trea Turner (+1200)

Last week, I talked about betting on the Philadelphia Phillies to win the division at a great value of +320 and a big reason would be because of Turner.

The 29-year-old put together one of his best seasons in 2022 as he posted a career-high in hits (194), doubles (39), home runs (21) and RBIs (100).

Turner will put together an even better campaign this year as he plays at a much friendlier hitters park in Citizens Bank Park and will lead off a stacked lineup that will get even better when Bryce Harper returns. There's also a good chance with the new MLB rules the two-time All-Star records 30 or more stolen bases for the fifth time in his career and first since 2019.

There hasn't been a back-to-back MVP winner in the NL since the Cardinals' Albert Pujols and I expect that trend to continue with Turner at 12/1 taking home his first MVP trophy in his career.

NL Cy Young: Spencer Strider (+1000)

Strider nearly won NL ROY last season but was edged out by Atlanta Braves teammate Michael Harris. The right-hander finished 11th in strikeouts despite pitching at least 40 innings fewer than the 10 pitchers that finished in front of him.

The former fourth-round pick won seven of his final 10 starts of the regular season and struck out nine or more batters in his final four appearances including a career-high 16 strikeouts on Sept. 1 against the Colorado Rockies.

The resume of a Cy Young award recipient is usually a double-digit winner, strikeout 200+ hitters and post a sub-2.80 ERA, all which Strider did in his first year in the big leagues.

Behind some big names and 2022 winner Sandy Alcantara, I'm betting on the 24-year-old Strider at 10/1 to be the first Braves' Cy Young Award winner in 25 years.

NL ROY: Jordan Walker (+450)

Last but not least we have Walker as the second odds-on-favorite to win the award. He's been scorching hot with a .424 average, 1.212 OPS and five multi-hit games so far in spring training.

MLB.com's fourth ranked prospect already has a two home run performance this spring and has shown no signs of slowing down since making his debut.

Even though he's only 20-years-old, the Cardinals would be hard pressed not to keep a talent like Walker on their Major League roster.

Wager on Walker now as I believe the outfielder/third baseman will wreak havoc this year and potentially crack the Redbirds' lineup on Opening Day.
