Starting Pitching Picks

Gerrit Cole -- Yankees vs. Orioles -- ADP 2.0

It’s hard to pick against Gerrit Cole right now. Seven of his 10 starts have been quality starts and that includes a complete game shutout.

His 2.01 ERA is second in the American League as well. Although the Orioles have a strong lineup, who Cole faces doesn’t seem to matter much. Expect to see a bunch of strikeouts and not many runs from Cole tonight. He’s a great option early on in your drafts.

Eduardo Rodriguez -- Tigers @ Royals -- ADP N/A

As for a value pick later in the draft, keep an eye on Eduardo Rodriguez of the Tigers. His 2.06 ERA is among the best of the best in the American League and although he’s coming off a rough last outing, he’s facing a weak-hitting Royals lineup.

He has a 4-3 record and has gone at least seven innings in four of his nine starts. In those four starts, Rodriguez has not given up a run. When he’s able to go deep into games, he usually dominates.

Infield Picks

Rafael Devers -- Red Sox @ Angels -- ADP 14.0

Rafael Devers is one of the best third basemen in baseball. Although his on-base percentage is down this season (.296), his slugging percentage is among the best of the best (.530). That means Devers comes in tonight with a ton of upside.

A couple of extra-base hits would go a long way for fantasy players in a three-person draft. He’s going to find his rhythm at some point.

Nolan Arenado -- Cardinals @ Reds -- ADP 33.5

Nolan Arenado is one of the biggest stars in baseball even if he’s off to a slow start this year. The All-Star third baseman is starting to heat up though.

Over his last 12 games, he has six home runs, 16 RBIs and a 1.207 OPS. It’s safe to say he’s starting to look more like the player who finished third in NL MVP voting. Add in the fact that he’s playing in one of the most hitter-friendly ballparks and Arenado is a strong option for fantasy players late in the draft.

Paul Goldschmidt -- Cardinals @ Reds -- ADP N/A

For players who might be skeptical of Arenado, here’s a look at his teammate and reigning NL MVP, Paul Goldschmidt.

The first basemen is having another strong season even if his power numbers aren’t quite there yet. Playing in Cincinnati could be a good sign for Arenado and Goldschmidt. Both players will be available in later rounds and bring tremendous upside to the picture.

Outfield Picks

Bryce Harper -- Phillies vs. Diamondbacks -- ADP 10.0

It’s important to remember that designated hitters are listed as outfielders on Underdog Fantasy. This makes Harper one of the best outfield options out there for bettors. With an average draft position of 10, Harper is going to be available in the early rounds.

Fantasy players can snag the power-hitting lefty for tonight’s action. While he has yet to find his stroke after returning from offseason surgery, it’s only a matter of time before Harper finds his groove. The Phillies are struggling so far this season and Harper breaking out could help right the ship.

Fernando Tatis Jr. -- Padres @ Nationals -- ADP 10.5

Fernando Tatis Jr. is one of the most polarizing stars in MLB, but there is no denying his talent. Tatis is firmly entrenched as San Diego’s leadoff hitter, which means he has plenty of opportunities to hit.

Although this could take away some opportunities for RBIs, he can score runs with the power hitters behind him in that lineup. At an average draft position of 10.5, fantasy players will need to strike early on Tatis.

Juan Soto -- Padres @ Nationals -- ADP 24.0

For more value in the San Diego lineup, look to Juan Soto. He’s one of the brightest young stars in baseball, but fantasy players can draft him in the later rounds right now.

Although Soto is having a strong season, he’s not getting on base as much as he usually does. Soto is another player who should find his rhythm at some point this season. He should be familiar with Nationals Park after starting his career there. Expect to get great value out of Soto with a pick in the later rounds.
