MINNEAPOLIS — After 18 consecutive postseason losses and more than two decades of not winning a postseason series, the Minnesota Twins are officially moving onto the divisional round of the MLB playoffs.
Minnesota completed a two-game wildcard-round sweep of the Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday with a nailbiting 2-0 win that featured more stellar pitching and a dramatic pickoff of Vladimir Guerrero Jr. on second base.
The victory marked the first the the Twins have won a playoff series since they dispatched the "Moneyball" Oakland Athletics in 2002, 21 years ago.
