Texas Rangers

The Rangers played the Twins over the weekend and could only win one of four games. The Sunday finale was a 7-6 loss, featuring homers from JP Martinez and Jonah Heim (grand slam). It’ll be Andrew Heaney in the starter role for the Rangers on Tuesday. Over 25 starts so far Heaney is 9-6 with a 4.34 ERA and 127 strikeouts over 122.1 innings. Heaney is 3-0 in his last seven starts with a 4.06 ERA.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’m going to take a stab on the Rangers. Probably not touching this one, though. Neither starter has been super sharp lately. Heaney has given up seven earned runs over his last 9.1 innings in three starts. As for Quintana, he’s 1-2 in his last three starts with eight earned over his last 17.1 innings. Things could get wild early in this one, especially if Texas gets the bats going again. On Monday in the opener, the Rangers started slow but really picked it up after the seventh inning. That’s three straight games with four or more runs for Texas, and I think they’ll keep it going in game two.
