New York Rangers vs. Winnipeg Jets odds, picks and predictions

The New York Rangers (33-14-9, 3rd in Metropolitan) return home as they take on the Winnipeg Jets (34-21-1, 2nd in Central) Monday at 7 p.m. at Madison Square Garden.

New York's seven-game winning streak came to an end Saturday night when the Blueshirts lost 3-2 in overtime against the Calgary Flames. The Rangers have earned points in 10 straight games as they're 8-0-2 during that stretch.

The Jets surrendered three unanswered goals in the third period in a 4-2 loss to the New Jersey Devils last night.

Here are my picks and predictions for this Monday night showdown with odds powered by Tipico Sportsbook.

Puck line: Rangers -1.5 (+145)

During their winning streak, New York covered the -1.5 puck line four times including impressive wins against teams currently in a playoff spot in the Carolina Hurricanes, Seattle Kraken and Las Vegas Golden Knights.

Meanwhile, the Jets have lost five of their last seven games on the road with four of those losses coming by two or more goals.

This is a great value play at +145 as I'd place a small wager on the Blueshirts to win this one by multiple goals at MSG tonight.

Over/Under: Under 5.5 goals (+115)

After backup netminder Jaroslav Halak got the nod in Calgary, starting goalie Igor Shesterkin will be in between the pipes tonight. Despite winning his last four starts, the 27-year-old has struggled since the All-Star Break as he's allowed at least three goals in each contest.

The total has dropped from 6.5 goals to 5.5 after Winnipeg announced starter Connor Hellebuyck will be in net for the second night of a back-to-back. The 29-year-old has had his issues on the road this year as he's only 9-9-1 in 19 starts compared to 16-7 at home.

Even with a low over/under of 5.5 goals, I'd still take the under here as I'm betting we see a low-scoring affair with two of the best defensive units in the NHL.

Moneyline: Rangers (-170)

While Hellebuyck is off to his best start since he finished runner-up for the Vezina trophy in 2017-18, I think New York takes care of business here. The Rangers have won 14 of 19 games in the New Year with eight of those victories coming on home ice.

If you're looking for a little better value than -170 on the moneyline at Tipico Sportsbook, wager on the Rangers to win in regulation at -117.

My Best Bets

Bet on the Rangers' moneyline (-170), to cover the -1.5 puck line (+145) and the under 5.5 total goals scored at +115 on Tipico Sportsbook.
