Newsboy’s horseracing tips for Tuesday’s four meetings, including Newcastle Nap
Newsboy fancies his nap, Wee Fat Mac, to win at Newcastle and also hopes Wallaroo can score at Chelmsford and complete his Daily Double
WEE FAT MAC (9.00 nap) can complete a quickfire double by landing the QuinnBet Handicap on the last race of the card at Newcastle on Tuesday evening.
The Iain Jardine-trained course winner produced a career-best, aided by a first-time tongue strap, when landing a five-furlong handicap at Ayr three days ago.
Always prominent, the gelding was pushed into the lead by Archie Young just inside a furlong out and gamely held on by a short head to beat Glorious Rio.
My selection has a 5lb penalty to contend with here but is clearly in red-hot form and has won twice on Newcastle's Tapeta track previously.
He races over five and six furlongs but is remarkably consistent over the minimum trip, not finishing out of the first four in his last six starts at that distance.
At Chelmsford, WALLAROO (6.15, nb) is fancied to land the Betsi Handicap over a mile at decent odds.
The five-year-old, trained by Ivan Furtado, enjoyed a drop in grade when getting off the mark at Wolverhampton last month over a mile and half a furlong.
The son of Australia kept on well to hold off Annalee Lass by a head under Elle-May Croot.
The two are reunited again today and should be thereabouts.
